To begin with, Sikh marriage is called Anand Karaj. Grown up boys and girls get marries when they are completely ready to take full responsibilities of getting married. If they are still a child it is forbidden to get married because they are not aware of what they are getting into and they are not prepared to handle their life on their own. If they want, their parents can escort them if needed. Most of the marriage is seen during the morning time so they have time for the meeting of both families which is called the Milni where Holy Shabads are sung. Some disadvantages would be that some people may not be able t o make their own decisions and have to count on their parents to choose who is right for them. Sometimes family members can get in the way and may not agree so much with the choice of who they have to marry which causes stress towards the marriage of the two. Also, Marriages in the US have decreased over time due to people not being satisfied with each other. Most of the time they rush into marriage and towards the end it doesn’t go well and end up in a divorce. The year of 2013 has rates of 6.8 marriages per 1,000 population, almost 50% has got divorced. Over time the number of marriages have decreased while the number of divorces have increased. To this day the numbers are still rising for divorce and not much marriages have been going on as stated in USA Today.
